Yearbook Yourself, or This is What Happens When She’s got a Little Time on Her Hands

No Telling

So it’s Friday night. Em’s out with her gentleman friend and I’m babysitting The Perfect Grandson who’s working some new molars through and is a bit restless. Writing anything requiring sustained concentration is out the window.

I’m kind of glad, though, because I’ve found this Yearbook Yourself site and it’s more fun than anyone has a right to have. Just upload a picture, make sure it’s lined up correctly, then try on yearbook looks. Anything from 1954 to 2000. Double the fun by adding your picture to activities – seriously, put yourself in a 1966 football squad or become a cheerleader in the 80s (scary permed hair and all).

I loved all of them, but this one (1966) really made me pause. Except for the glasses, I look exactly like my mother.

C’mon. You know you’re not doing anything important right now. Go make a yearbook picture and horrify yourself, just promise to leave a link so we can all enjoy your pain. Extra points if you put it on Facebook.

  1. That is too funny. I played around with it for awhile. I wear glasses, and the ones I liked (well, that were totally geeky) also had glasses, to it didn't work out with two pairs of glasses on. 😦 Plus I had a hard time matching my skin tone. But it's a fun web site. I'll have to play around with it. Thanks for sharing with us.

BTW – you look real cute!

  2. I think I've fixed the picture now, Amuse Me. On closer inspection, there's something creepy about the eyebrows.

I'm gonna make it after all, Steven!

I wear glasses too, Pat, and it was hard to make some of the others work. The cat-eye glasses worked fairly well – I should post that one.

Your Majesty, did you try the group pictures? Somehow I ended up as the center in a football squad shot. Bizarre.

Paperback Writer, I wish they had some older looks – I'd love to try on a good 40's 'do. When I figure out how to retrieve my Facebook password, I'm checking out those pictures!

  3. Yeah… it can be fun, but all people look the same on this site – I did this with my friends and we looked the same in 60's and then in 80's. We had fun of course, because we imagine ourselves in another generations, but I'm not the guy who is so impressed because of pictures or sites like this…
